Certified Trauma Specialist Dedicated to Helping Others Deal with LossLaurie Martin, CTS
Having earned her CTS designation in Austin, Texas, Laurie has completed thousands of hours of hands-on frontline experience throughout North America and the Caribbean for the past two decades. Through Life Interrupted, she offers customized workshops, keynote speaking and coaching to help individuals and community groups survive trauma, anxiety and loss. Laurie is recognized for her “People Preparedness” curriculum that includes various topics, such as pandemics, disasters, death in the workplace, suicide workplace violence, crisis intervention, and a series of wellness programs on stress and family balance. Laurie is a Master Trainer for Applied Suicide Intervention Training and has designed several award-winning training programs. Following the Oklahoma City bombing, Laurie was invited to send her team of interventionists to provide support to the survivors. She was an integral part of the National Hurricane Disaster Committee, providing trauma education for emergency responders for the Cayman Island government. Laurie was also invited out to Grenada, following a hurricane that devastated the Caribbean Islands. Closer to home, she co-ordinated her crisis team to provide intervention for the credit unions after the Manitoba floods. Working the Ontario School Boards’ Insurance Exchange, Laurie provided grief education talks and support for the Walkerton water crisis. She wrote articles for magazines and syndicated newspapers throughout the U.S. and Canada, providing helpful strategies for individuals to cope and find appropriate support, following the September 11th terrorist attacks in New York. Laurie has shared her expertise on Toronto One T.V., Canada A.M., the Andy Barrie Show, Jim Chapman Talk Show (1410 Radio A.M.), Entrepreneurs (CJOB Radio), A.M. 740 and MIX 106. She has been featured in various magazines and syndicated news publications internationally. She is the author of the book, Life Interrupted and donates 35% of her book sales to The Healing Cycle Foundation. |

It was the experience of working through traumatic events and loss in her own life that led Laurie Martin to become a Certified Trauma Specialist. She describes her life during a particularly difficult time: “It was like a forest that has been burned to the ground. There wasn’t a blade of green grass to be found.” From her experiences she decided that her mission in life is to devote her time to helping people come to terms with life experiences that interrupt their joy and purpose in life.
