Expanded Palliative Care Services: Part of a $45 million Credit Valley Hospital ExpansionEach of us can do more in our lifetime to improve the health care of our society. The Credit Valley Hospital Foundation’s Lifetime of Care $45 million campaign is raising funds for Credit Valley’s long-awaited expansion. The expansion will allow Credit Valley to provide enhanced hospital services including more beds and additional space for Regional Maternal Child Care, Complex Continuing Care, and Palliative Care. At Credit Valley, we believe end-of-life care deserves the same compassion and respect that is provided when life begins. Our family-centered palliative care program is provided by professionals in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, therapeutic recreation, dietary supervision, music therapy, pharmaceutical services, psychological services and spiritual and religious counseling. Palliative care patients have significant and constantly changing medical, personal and physical needs and our health care team recognizes that and cares for them accordingly. Your support will give palliative care patients an expanded 15-bed centre. Normal, everyday life objects such as television, music, bookshelves and windows overlooking gardens will be reflected in the design of the facility. It will be home-like, comfortable and include natural light. It will foster a collegial and supportive atmosphere among patients, families and staff, allowing each person to gain strength from others. There will be a variety of spaces, indoor and outdoor, for families and staff to gather informally, without compromising patient privacy. The new Palliative Care Centre will offer privacy, independence and comfort to our patients and it will allow us to comfort them and their families through this most difficult time. |
