Rider FAQ's
What is the minimum amount I have to raise in order to participate in the ride?
The minimum pledge levels depend on the distance you have chosen to ride. The greater the distance of the route, the more you have to raise. The minimum donation requirements for each route are:
10 km - $50
25km - $125
50 km - $250
100 km - $500
160 km - $1,500
What if I can’t reach the required minimum pledge level?
The Healing Cycle has a firm “no free rides” policy. So if you are unable to make the minimum pledge level you can drop down to a route distance that has a pledge level that you can manage better. For example if you signed up for the 100 km distance which requires $500 in pledges and you’ve brought in $300 in pledges, you can change the distance (by logging onto your account) to 50 km, which only requires a $250 pledge amount.
My spouse and I signed up together. Do we both have to raise the minimum pledge level? And what about my children?
Yes, both adults must bring in the minimum pledge level. So if you’ve both signed up to do the 50 km distance you must raise $500 ($250 + $250). However, if your children are under the age of 18 they are not required to raise any additional pledges.
What if I have signed up for a distance that I no longer want to do?
You can log on to your account and simply change the route distance.
What if I can’t make it on the day of the event because I’m sick or have to go on a trip somewhere – can I get my registration fee refunded?
Sorry, registration fees are non-refundable. Since we promise that 100% of tax-receipted donations will be given directly to the Palliative Care Unit at Credit Valley Hospital, we use the registration fees to cover our costs for putting on the event.
What if it rains on the day of the event?
Come rain or come shine we will be running the event that day, so dress appropriately if it does rain! And don’t worry, you’re still going to have a lot of fun!
Can I bring my children in a bike trailer or a bike seat?
Yes, definitely!
Do I need to wear a helmet?
Yes, it is mandatory for everyone to wear a helmet. We do have some helmets for rent on the day of the event.
