Road SupportRoad CrewAll routes will have support vehicles and motorcycles to ensure the safety of the cyclists. Mini-vans and trucks will pick up cyclists experiencing difficulty. Technical trucks will assist with minor bike repairs. St. John Ambulance and police will also be present on the shorter routes. Standing and cycling marshals will be present along the 10km and 25km routes to assist families with children and the Kids4Kids Team. DispatchIt is highly recommended that cyclists carry a cell phone, as they will be given maps with a dispatch number, in case they run into difficulties. Dispatch is in constant contact with all the support vehicle and rest station volunteers. Rest StationsRest stations will be located on all the routes and will have toilet facilities, water, energy drinks and snacks. SignageEach of the routes will have bright, large colour-coded signs to follow. Every right or left turn of all the routes will have signs. In addition, signs indicating the distance covered will be posted every 10 km for the 50 km, 100 km and Gran Fondo rides and every 5 km for the 25 km and 10 km rides. Free Bike InspectionsIt is strongly recommended that cyclists have their bikes inspected before the ride, in order to avoid unexpected mechanical problems and disappointment during the ride. Cyclists can have their bikes inspected for free at Via Ciclante, 222 Queen Street South, Mississauga, two weeks before the ride. HelmetsHelmets are mandatory for every cyclist. Without them, cyclists cannot participate in the event. Some helmets are available for purchase of $50 on the day of the ride for those cyclists who forget their helmets.
