Team Challenge
How the Team Challenge Works
Feel like participating with a group of co-workers or friends and family? Join our Team Challenge and have a chance at bringing home two trophies:
1. Fundraising
2. Average Team Speed
1. Fundraising
Points are given for:
- Distances Chosen - 1 point for each kilometer ridden
- Amount Raised in Pledges - 1 point per dollar
- Number of People on the Team -100 points per team member
- Matching Corporate Donations - 1 point per dollar
The DEADLINE for accumulating points for the fundraising trophy is FRIDAY, JUNE 25th at midnight. Any points accumulated after the deadline will not be counted towards the team total.
2. Average Team Speed
Every cyclist will be given a timing chip so that the length of time it takes you to complete your ride will be recorded and posted. While the Healing Cycle ride is not a race, there will be a trophy given out to the team that has the highest average speed. The average speed will be determined by the average of ALL the cyclists within a team, regardless of the distance they choose to ride.
Competing by Team Sizes
Teams compete against each other based on the size of the team for the fundraising trophy. So, for example, a small team never competes directly against a large team and only has to beat out other small teams. The three different team sizes are:
- Small: 10 or less team members
- Medium: 11-25 team members
- Large: 26 + team members
How to Sign Up a Team
To participate in the Team Challenge, Team Captains must register the team name on our website BEFORE team members can sign-up. The pre-registration fee is $50 per each team member (except for Gran Fondo participants, who pay $100 because of the jersey they receive). This fee is non-refundable. In order to complete registration the team must raise a minimum total in pledges that is based on the distances chosen. The pledge amounts are:
10 km - $50
25km - $125
50 km - $250
100 km - $500
160 km - $1,500
IMPORTANT: Please note that team members can no longer compensate for each other if a team member falls short of his pledge minimum. Every team member has to bring in his own pledge minimum. If a team member that has not raised sufficient funds, he must drop down to a ride distance that he has sufficient pledges for or he cannot participate in the ride. Other team members that have raised their minimum pledge amounts can participate and are unaffected by a team member’s inability to raise sufficient funds for his chosen distance.
