Team Challenge
How the Team Challenge Works.
Feel like participating with a group of co-workers or friends and family? Join our Team Challenge and have a chance at bringing home two trophies:
- Fundraising
- Average Team Speed
Fundraising
Teams wins the Team Challenge trophy by raising the most pledges in total. Teams compete against other teams based on the number of team members. For example, "small" teams do not compete against "large" teams. The three different team sizes are:
- Small: 10 or less team members
- Medium: 11-25 team members
- Large: 26 + team members
The DEADLINE for determining the fundraising trophy winners is FRIDAY, JUNE 22nd at midnight. Any donations accumulated after the deadline are appreciated but will not be counted towards the team total.
Average Team Speed
Every cyclist will be given a timing chip so that the length of time it takes to complete your ride will be recorded and posted. While the Healing Cycle Ride is not a race, there will be a trophy given out to the team that has the highest average speed. The average speed will be determined by the average of ALL the cyclists within a team, regardless of the distance they choose to ride. As with the fundraising team challenge, trophies are given out based on team size.
Competing by Team Sizes
Teams compete against each other based on the size of the team for the fundraising trophy. So, for example, a small team never competes directly against a large team and only has to beat out other small teams. The three different team sizes are:
- Small: 10 or less team members
- Medium: 11-25 team members
- Large: 26 team members
How to Sign Up a Team
To participate in the Team Challenge, Team Captains must register the team name BEFORE team members can sign-up. Once the team is registered the Team Captain will automatically be notified every time a new member joins the team and will be given their email address for correspondence. Team Captains that do not intend to ride, but will recruit other riders can sign up as a sidekick captain for $25.
If a cyclist accidentally signs up as an individual, instead of joining a particular team, a request can be made by that individual (not the team captain) to be transferred onto the team by sending an email to Heather@thehealingcycle.ca.
The registration fee is $50 for each team member. This fee is non-refundable. In order to participate each team member must raise the minimum fundraising amount required based on the distance they have chosen to ride. The minimum fundraising amounts are:
- 10 km - $50
- 25km - $125
- 50 km - $250
- 100 km - $500
- 160 km - $800
IMPORTANT: Please note that team members cannot compensate for each other if a team member falls short of their minimum required fundraising. Each team member has to raise the minimum donations required for the distance they have selected in order to participate. If team members have not raised sufficient funds, they can drop down to a ride distance for which they have raised sufficient funds. Other team members that have raised their minimum amount can participate and are unaffected by team members who do not reach their minimum fundraising requirements.
